Brain Awareness Week is March 12-17th. During this time, the Ontario Brain Institute (“OBI”) will launch three online events. The goals of these events are to raise awareness of brain disorders and the excellent work underway in Ontario to help solve them.

The three brain awareness initiatives are:

1) OBI Webinar Series

The OBI webinar series highlights how physicians, researchers, industry, and patient advocacy groups are working together to translate research findings into better patient care. There will be two webinars:

  • Depression webinar – Monday, March 12th from 12pm-1pm
  • Epilepsy webinar – Wednesday, March 14th from 12pm-1pm

Each webinar will include five 10-minute talks from each of the following: a patient/family member, physician, researcher, industry representative, patient-advocacy group leader.

Only 100 computers can log on to view this event live over the internet – so people are encouraged to watch in groups, wherever possible. Spots will be given on a first come first served basis. Please RSVP to events@braininstitute.ca to confirm your spot.

2) A Week of Twitter

Over the seven days of Brain Awareness Week, the OBI will tweet seven summary documents for the following disorders: addiction, autism, cerebral palsy, depression, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegeneration. These documents outline what the disorder is, what causes it, how it is treated, what the major issues are, and how we are working together in Ontario to address them. Follow @OntarioBrain

3) Our Blog

Visit us here during Brain Awareness Week as we will be posting 5 blog articles on the theme of “what you can do to minimize your risk of developing a neurological disorder”. Experts both in Ontario and across the globe have provided tips on how “sleep”, “exercise”, “diet”, “stress”, and “brain training” impact our brain health. Stay tuned right here!

Please join us online for Brain Awareness Week!
